We had such a good week this week! Your children came in on Tuesday ready to listen and learn! We spent all week learning about new things - here are some highlights...
Reading - We learned all about different types of trees, how they grow, and the animals that live in them. We learned new vocabulary words like forecast, source, energy and shed.
Writing - We wrote pen pal letters to our friends in North Carolina and then actually got to meet them through skyping with their class. That is such a great experience for both classes! We have also been writing detailed paragraphs about our favorite winter time activity.
Math - We learned symmetry and practiced symmetry in our math books, with pattern blocks and with geoboards.
Social Studies - We have started our unit on Kenya, Africa. We are creating a story where we are the main characters in the story. Our job will be photographers, so we created our photographers this week. Next week we will create our passport for our trip, and then begin our journey into the Maasai Mara game reserve.
We ended our week with a wonderful pizza and game party! It was a great ending to a fantastic week! I hope that everyone enjoys their weekend...rest up, because we are back to five full days next week! : D
PS: Please don't forget to send in gallon size milk or water jugs...we need them for a special Valentine's Day project! Thank you!!!
