Dear Parents,
Birthdays are an important day in everyone’s life and should be recognized. With food allergies becoming more prevalent and with new state guidelines promoting healthier children, we are moving away from class birthday parties. Our class will recognize each child’s birthday by singing the birthday song. Your child will also have the opportunity to wear a birthday crown and receive a birthday bookmark. If you are available the day your child’s birthday will be celebrated, you are also invited to come in sometime that day to read a book to the class or else have your child read their favorite book to the class.
If you would like to help promote literacy, you may also participate in the library’s Birthday Book Club. This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to pick out a special book that will be dedicated to him/her and his/her special day. The special birthday book will be housed in our school library for years to come with your child’s name inside. Think of how fun it might be to go back every year and check out “my special birthday book”.
Please do not send birthday invitations for your child to pass out at school. This is a cause of hurt feelings. The PTSA address/phone list will be sent home soon to help you with this. Our class will also soon have a directory. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact me by phone or email.
Thanks!
