I apologize for not updating our blog on Friday...we had our staff party and then lots of family in town for my nephew's wedding reception! It was an extremely busy weekend!
It is going to be a very busy week in Room 26 as well! We will be finishing up our sock project - be looking for it under your tree...but no peeking! We will also be celebrating our upcoming break by having a Polar Express party on Friday! Please have your child wear their pj's and bring in a mug and spoon for their hot chocolate! It will be a very relaxing way to start our Holiday break!
We will not be doing a spelling packet this week, so there will not be any new words to be studying for until after break. This week we will be focusing on Writing and Math! Please encourage your child to be practicing their math facts...we are in the middle of doing double digit addition and subtraction and it will make it much easier on your child if they know their facts! Also, if your child hasn't turned in their November homework...it is due! It is a great way to earn a free book from King County Library!
That's all for this week...I hope that everyone is staying warm and dry!

December Already?!
Wow! I can't believe it is already December! Things have been completely crazy around here with our schedule! I hope that everyone can make it tonight to the Dance Man! The kids have been practicing all their new moves. It should be a very fun and entertaining evening! Also, I hope that everyone had a chance to visit the Book Fair. Ms. Head did a fabulous job setting it up - and there were so many books to choose from! The Book Fair will be open on Monday and Tuesday as well until 3:30. That will give parents a time to shop before or after conferences!
Next week don't forget that Monday and Tuesday are short days - students get out of school at 11:25. If you have not rescheduled your conference yet, please don't forget to do so...check our conference schedule on our blog to see what times are available!
We have the toymaker coming to school on Wednesday the 8th. He will be our introduction to Solids, Liquids and Gases. That is always such a fun time for the kids - what a great way to start the day! He will be here from 8:45 to 10:15 if you are interested in coming to help out!
The last thing I wanted to mention is that:

Second graders are working on a very special holiday project and we need your help! We are asking each student to bring in a pair of colorful socks that are about the length of a ruler or just a little bit longer . If you could have your child bring them to school by Thursday, December 9th, that would be appreciated!
I hope that everyone has a wonderful, relaxing weekend - gearing up towards a very busy time of year!
