So Much Fun!

We have had such a great week!  There has been so much going on this week, and your kids have been amazing through it all!

We have had a walk-a-thon on Tuesday - and the sun even decided to come out for a minute or two!  And boy, did we ever look great in our yellow shirts!  We also have been working hard on our Mother's Day presents which will be going home on Friday, April 29th!  No peeking until May 8th!  We also participated in a webcast from Scholastic called "Wordgirl, Definition Competition."  The kids had such a great time with that, and they even learned some new words!  The other exciting thing that has happened in second grade is our caterpillars have arrived!  Each student has two caterpillars on their desk to observe.  By the end of the year, we will have observed their whole life cycle!  It is very exciting!

Next week we should be back to our regular routine!

Enjoy your weekend!

What a week!

It has been a pretty good week...the kids have been focused, and we have been able to accomplish quite a bit of stuff!
Next week is a VERY busy week!  We have the Walk-a-thon on Tuesday...second graders are to wear yellow!  Thank you to Mrs. Elsasser, (Cole's mom), all the kids in our class have yellow t-shirts!  We will be decorating those on Monday afternoon!
On Wednesday we will be participating in a definition competition with WORDGIRL!  It is a live webcast through scholastic.  It should be fun - we have been practicing new vocabulary words and using our dictionary all week.  We also have a very special project we will be working on this next week, and because of that, I am asking for my volunteers to take the week off!  I don't want to have any moms show up next week, or the surprise may be ruined!
Other than that, it will be a pretty typical (that's one of our new vocab words) week next week!  : D

HAPPY EASTER, EVERYONE!  Hoping for sunshine!

What a great week!

It was such a fun day today - celebrating our compliments!  We had two movies showing, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory in Mrs. Williams room, Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 in Mrs. Thomason's room and then we had games in our classroom...students had a choice on where they wanted to go - it was very fun!

We accomplished a lot this week - In Reading we read a play called The Pine Park Mystery.  We talked about the different components of a play and what stage direction means.  We read the play with different parts all week and then we took our comprehension test on Friday.

In Math we are learning fractions.  Fractions are fun, and all the students seem to really understand them, which makes it even more fun!  Next week we will begin working with time again - telling time with "a quarter to, half past, and quarter after."  We will also practice measuring in inches and half inches!

For Social Studies we finished our chapter on goods and services.  Please ask your child to tell you what goods are and what services are!

I hope that Dads were able to enjoy the donuts this morning - it was sure fun to see so many attend!  What a great way to start the day!

Enjoy your weekend - hoping for some sunshine!

HAPPY FOOL'S DAY!

What a fun week it has been!  The kids are all excited to have a break, but they did a great job focusing this week!  We earned our 25 compliment points, plus 4 addtional points to be carried over to the next 25!  WOW!  We will be having our compliment party the Friday we return from break.  We haven't discussed as a class yet what we will be doing, so I will keep you posted as I find out!

It was quite a foolish day, today!  I was able to fool your children three different times today...it was very fun!  You better watch out, because I know they have some tricks up their sleeves!

I hope that everyone enjoys their break - have safe trips wherever you go, and relax!
