Hip, Hip, Hooray!

We earned our compliments party this week!  Since the beginning of the year, we have been trying to earn 25 compliments on our "Catching Compliments" chart...and we finally did it!  Yay!  The students have voted to have a pajama and movie party to celebrate!  We will be having our party on Friday, October 15th!  If you have a G rated movie that you would like to share with the class, please have your child bring it in by Thursday.  We will be voting as a class to see which movie we will be watching!  The really exciting news is that Mrs. Thomason's and Mrs. William's class are also having movie parties on that Friday!  Therefore, we thought it would be really fun if we could maybe go to another classroom to watch a movie!  There will be three movies playing that day, and the students will get to pick which one they would like to see!  It is so much fun following the rules and being respectful!

Another exciting thing that happened this week, (actually today!) is we had some visitors come in and talk to us about Guatemala and the tropical rainforest there.  They shared with us their experiences and the different animals they saw.  It was very fun!  Afterwards, we got to draw with our oil pastels one of our favorite rainforest animal...they turned out terrific!

We also started "Caught'ya" this week!  That is where I give the students a sentence with errors and they get to correct them in their "Caught'ya" journals!  Talk to your kids about this - I think they are really enjoying it!

The students have been writing some super sentences in writing this week.  They are learning how to add adjectives and adverbs to their sentences to make it more exciting for the reader!  They have been coming up with some pretty silly sentences!

One last thing we did this week, since it has been such nice weather, is we were able to go out and plant tulip bulbs in the front of our school (close to our classroom).   Thank you, Mrs. Reynolds, for your help!  We are looking forward to watching them bloom in the Spring!

*** By the way...I have added the conference schedule to the blog - you can check the time you signed up for, and if you didn't get a chance to sign up, please see what times are available and email a time that would work for you!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!   Get out and enjoy the sunshine before it's too late!
