It was so much fun to see all the parents Wednesday night! I hope you enjoyed seeing our classroom and learning about everything that goes on in Room 26! We have been very busy this week. Here are some highlights:
Reading: We read the story Henry and Mudge Under the Yellow Moon. With this story, we learned new vocabulary words, we practiced tracking with our fingers, and we were able to compare and contrast the differences between the two main characters. We also reviewed what a story has - plot, characters, setting, beginning, middle and an ending.
Writing: We finished up our Guess Who posters, did our Weekend news, and did journal writing this week. I also introduced peer editing to the students, where they have a friend help them with their editing.
Math: We are continuing our unit on addition and subtraction. We also started story problems with addtion and subtraction. We reviewed fact families, and we will be working with graphs next week.
Science: We finished up our plant unit - all the students now have beautiful pea plants at home! We also created our own lima bean, which showed all of the different parts.
Art: Mrs. Thomason introduced us to zentangles, which focuses on patterns, lines and shading. It was a very relaxing project that the students will continue to work on throughout the year.
Pictures for our class will be next Tuesday, September 28th at 1:50! Please remember to send in your picture packet - either on that day or before!
Have a wonderful weekend!
